Girls: Is it wrong for guys to play "hard to get"?

I'm 17. I think that if you have to be talking to a certain type of girl to be able to play hard to get--like a girl who plays hard to get herself. but if u want an actual, serious relationship and a girl that really likes you, playing hard to get wouldnt be the way to go.
